Sanitation Division

The City of Moscow Sanitation Department has been working with the Downtown Business Alliance and Inland North Waste to more efficiently and effectively provide collection service of solid waste dumpsters in the downtown corridor.

In an effort to minimize alley blockages and conflicts with delivery trucks, Inland North Waste has altered the collection schedule for downtown commercial front-load solid waste dumpsters to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. We encourage businesses in the downtown area to schedule deliveries on Tuesdays and Thursdays or outside of the 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. window when possible. This will help minimize interruptions to service and missed collections.

The City of Moscow also encourages those businesses in the downtown corridor to partner with a neighboring business and share the use and cost of a solid waste dumpster, instead of continuing to use individual roll carts. This will help reduce alley clutter and truck traffic. The City of Moscow already has many shared dumpsters throughout the community. If you are interested in how solid waste dumpster partnering works, please contact us.

Winter Reminders

Dumpsters

It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that dumpsters that need to be wheeled out to be serviced, such as those in the alleyways downtown, are cleared of any snow that prevents them from being wheeled out.

Roll Carts

Be mindful that regardless of snow, 3 feet of space around the cart is still needed for the automatic arm to pick it up. Roll carts should also be removed from the street/curb no later than 24 hours after it has been collected. This will assist plow drivers in their efforts to remove as much snow from the street as possible.

Goals

The Sanitation Division of the Public Works and Services Department strives to build community confidence by actively exploring and assessing viable new technologies and opportunities in the management of the waste stream which protects the health, safety and cleanliness of the City of Moscow.

The Sanitation Division continually strives to improve neighborhood collection day aesthetics and conditions promote "product stewardship" and producer responsibility and inform the public through the waste reduction education program efforts to rethink, reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Curbside Collection

Residential garbage collection occurs weekly and recycling collection occurs every other week. To find your collection day please visit our interactive map.
