If you’ve been pilfering your Netflix account from your parents or a friend and want to take your Netflix account into your own hands, especially after reports that the streamer is about to crack down on password sharing, you’re probably curious about the pricing and subscription. After all, the streaming giant just put an ad-supported tier into effect for the first time, bringing the number of plans they offer up to four. Well, lucky for you, we have answers!
For U.S. subscribers, Netflix offers four different subscription plans that vary in price depending on your streaming needs. Live alone or don’t like sharing? Check out Netflix’s Basic with Ads Plan. Perhaps you’re looking for the highest quality you can get; the Netflix Premium Plan will be perfect for those needs with select titles streaming in 4K Ultra HD. As is often the case with this streaming giant, there’s no shortage of available options when it comes to Netflix’s subscription prices.

In November 2022, Netflix launched their long-awaited ad-supported tier. For $6.99/month, you can watch nearly everything in Netflix’s library, but some movies and TV shows are unavailable to users on the Basic with Ads plan due to licensing restrictions. Customers can stream on one device at a time in basic HD, but unlike the cheapest ad-free tier, offline downloads are not included in the Basic with Ads plan.
Not a fan of ads? Netflix‘s cheapest ad-free plan (Netflix’s Basic Plan) is still relatively affordable at $9.99/month. This plan lets customers stream on one device at a time in basic HD and allows downloads to one phone or tablet.
Netflix‘s ad-free Standard Plan costs $15.49 per month. This plan allows viewers to watch on two devices at the same time, so it’s perfect for couples or smaller families. Subscribers can also stream in full high definition (HD, 1080p) and download to two devices.
The most expensive Netflix subscription is the ad-free Premium Plan, which costs $19.99/month. The Premium Plan allows up to four simultaneous streams and one-ups the Standard Plan to allow for ultra high definition streaming (UHD/4K) when available. Customers can also download select shows and movies to four phones or tablets, so it’s perfect for larger families or even those that simply want the best streaming quality.
This one’s easy. To upgrade your Netflix subscription, simply go to your Account page and change or upgrade your plan under the “Plan Details” section.
